Anyone who has spent a large amount of time looking at porn on the internet (yes, I’m talking to you, dickweed) has likely heard of (or more likely, been to) the website known as Xtube.com. It is hard to spend any amount of time frequenting porn sites and not have heard of it, seeing as it is one of the largest porn tube sites in the world. In fact, they claim to be the first adult tube site on the internet, originally released in March of 2006.With nearly 9 million users, Xtube has extremely impressive numbers for any website, let alone a porn tube. In fact, they do quite well for themselves when compared to every website in existence. According to Alexa’s web traffic reports, as of April 2018, they were ranked 705 in the United States.X Tube is a part of the adult media juggernaut, Mindgeek, the company responsible for the entire Pornhub Network, including Porn Hub, Redtube, Youporn, Tube 8, and Spank Wire to name a few. Over the past decade or so, they have established quite the reputation for themselves. In 2012, Mindgeek owner, Fabian Thylmann attempted to buy rival tube site, Xvideos for $120 million in order to create a virtual porn tube monopoly.Xvideos gave Thylmann a big middle finger in response, though, replying with simply, “Sorry, I have to go play Diablo II.” Well, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars, Mr. Thylmann. That’s okay, though. I’m sure $200 would be chump change for someone with Porn Hub money.A Porn Site that Pays You?One thing that really sets Xtube apart from other tube sites is that it is one of the only porn sites on which you can actually make money as opposed to just spending it. Sign up to become a model and upload your homemade content, do whatever your heart (or dick) desires, retain any level (or none) of anonymity, and set your own prices. Xtube then agrees to pay you whatever you earn on a biweekly basis. They claim that you can make up to $5,000 per pay period.I must say, this is a really fucking cool feature. Those of you who have read other reviews of mine know that I am all about the future of porn becoming more and more interactive and participatory, and this is definitely a great way to aid that mission along. Whether or not you’ll actually make decent money from your upload depends, of course, on the quality of your content and how much visibility you are able to get for it. In other words, sorry, bub, a shitty phone video of your fat ass jacking off your tiny dick probably isn’t going to get you paid. Find a hot chick willing to fuck around with you and get a halfway decent camera, however, and you might just have a shot.But, let’s assume that you don’t have what it takes to become even an amateur porn star (most people don’t, plain and simple). That’s okay, there is still plenty to enjoy on Xtube as a passive observer. As soon as you land on the site’s home page, videos of all types will appear. Gay and straight content tossed in together is the site’s default.So, if you don’t swing that way, you’re gonna have to find the spot at the top of the page where you can set your preferences by unchecking a box. “I am: [Male] [Female]” it will offer, “I like: [Male] [Female].” Just make your selection and get rid of all the gay shit if you want. Not a big deal. Unless you’re a piece of shit bigot. In which case, please just close out your browser and consider drinking cyanide : ]An Interactive Social Media Porn TubeAside from that, Xtube will look pretty familiar to those of you who have been to other tube sites before. Underneath the menu bar, you have six thumbnails of videos currently being watched. Below that, you will find a gallery of videos ordered by upload date (latest to oldest) and a page index at the end. Want your results to appear in some other order? No problem. Just click on either new, most viewed, top-rated, most discussed, top length, top favorites, or premium. Further, customize your videos by clicking a dropdown menu that allows you to filter by specific category.The home page also features a pretty convenient menu bar allowing you to navigate directly to videos, amateurs, live cams, categories, community, photos, and a merch store to purchase DVDs. Continuing with what makes Xtube unique, their community features are far and beyond your typical porn site. Search members (with a fun map of the world which allows you to click on particular countries and states to filter by locality), check out a social media-style feed of updates from users, keep up with member’s individual blogs, and read Xtube’s official blog.In search mode, underneath each member’s profile picture (which shows you multiple pictures if you hover your mouse) you have the option to quickly add them as a friend or send them a message. Visiting a user’s profile will bring up their timeline, about me, photo gallery, comments, friends list, and the options to either send them a gift, donate to them, or block the user. If they have any videos for sale, their profile will also be the place to purchase them.Pretty Standard Layout and DesignAs far as looking at Xtube as just a porn tube goes, it seems to be just as good as any of the other big names. They have a decent media player that allows you to see previews of what’s to cum in a particular video when you hover your mouse over the scrub bar, each video has a list of tags, there’s a list of related videos underneath the media player and a list of other videos from the uploader to the right. Finally, at the very bottom of the page, you have a comments section. Everything seems to check out with video playback quality, buffering, and links. Xtube is as good as your go-to tube, but with way more features.There are, however, things about Xtube that I’m not crazy about. Firstly, ads. There are ads to the right of every page, as well as ads that take over the screen when you pause a video. For a tube site that clearly has multiple streams of revenue, this seems like such bullshit. That being said, there is a way to eliminate all ads from your Xtube experience. You can sign up for a paid membership ($9.99/month for a 12-month contract). I don’t know how worth it this would be though. Even as a paying member, you’d still have to purchase amateur videos one at a time.No Free Amateur ContentAnother slightly annoying aspect of the site is that, speaking of memberships, you have to register with the site in order to view any of their amateur content. From what I can gather, you don’t have to sign up for a paid membership to view this content, but you do have to purchase or rent whatever you want to watch.The prices, then, depend on what the uploader decides. I understand that Xtube has created a unique platform on which people can potentially earn an income by uploading their homemade content, but I do wish that I could at least stream a video (or a part of it) once or twice before having to pay. For all of my fellow amateur porn lovers out there, if you’re not willing to pay, Xtube will probably not be the site for you.Not Really for the Passive Porn AppreciatorAll in all, if you are looking for a porn tube that allows you to easily interact with fellow members, try your hand at becoming an amateur porn star, watch tons of free (non-amateur) videos, and support your favorite models, Xtube is the perfect site for you. On the other hand, if you’re just looking for a porn tube for a quick fap-and-go, there are probably more efficient sites out there for those purposes.Maybe I’ll go and try to convince my woman to shoot a video with me to upload to Xtube (often misspelled as "xporn", "xtubes", "xtubr" and "x-tube"). It can’t hurt, right?
